![]() Many teenagers will find the story too slow to get going, which is a fair criticism. Adults will probably like it (this one did), but it's a great young-adult novel. The Book Thief was published for adults in Zusak's native Australia, and I strongly suspect it was written for adults. Some will argue that a book so difficult and sad may not be appropriate for teenage readers. Zusak is the award-winning author of four previous books for young adults: The Underdog, Fighting Ruben Wolfe, Getting the Girl, and I Am the Messenger, recipient of a 2006 Printz Honor for excellence in young adult literature. In 2018 he published Bridge of Clay, also to wide acclaim. After publication of The Book Thief, he was dubbed a"literary phenomenon" by Australian and U.S. So there’s another side to Nazi Germany,” said Zusak in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.īy the age of 30, Zusak had already asserted himself as one of the most innovative and poetic novelists around. But there still were rebellious children and people who didn’t follow the rules and people who hid Jews and other people in their houses. "We have these images of the straight-marching lines of boys and the ‘Heil Hitlers’ and this idea that everyone in Germany was in it together. He always knew it was a story he wanted to tell. ![]() Printz Honor, 20 Kathleen Mitchell Award, 2006 Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Award, 2003Īustralian author Markus Zusak grew up hearing stories about Nazi Germany, about the bombing of Munich and about Jews being marched through his mother’s small, German town. With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement before he is marched to Dachau. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can’t resist-books. ![]() Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak’s groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. It’s just a small story really, about among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. ![]()

In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. To learn about satisfaction, CR has collected survey data from our annual survey on more than half a million vehicles. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. This year, they’re not doing a big (media event). “They have something new come out, they’re really good about getting (media) on units. “Sea-Doo does a really good job getting the media on brand-new skis really fast,” Shaw said in his latest YouTube broadcast. Kevin Shaw, the editor-in-chief of The Watercraft Journal, the world’s biggest Jet Ski website, has reported that major updates to the Sea-Doo Spark and Sea-Doo Spark Trixx twins have been postponed. Helpfully for Sea-Doo, the Spark and Spark Trixx remain hugely popular – and still look fresh – despite their age.Ĭompared to other Sea-Doo models, they are also less reliant on semiconductors, a shortage of which has slammed the brakes on production of Jet Skis, automobiles, and other tech-heavy industries. Watercraft Zone understands the Sea-Doo Spark and Trixx updates have been delayed while manufacturer BRP redirects its engineering resources to other more lucrative models across its vast portfolio. Priced from less than $8000 when it was introduced in 2014 (though pricing has since climbed to between $8769 and $13,699 excluding trailer and registration), the Sea-Doo Spark established a new entry point in the personal watercraft market globally. ![]() However, ongoing production interruptions appear to have put the brakes on the new Sea-Doo Spark and Trixx editions, while parent company BRP focuses on more profitable models in its watercraft range. Given the Sea-Doo Spark was introduced in 2014 – joined in 2018 by the tail-riding Spark Trixx – industry insiders were expecting to see an all-new model unveiled this year ahead of 2023 showroom arrivals. Sea-Doo changeovers usually occur nine years after the launch of the previous model. An all-new Sea-Doo Spark – and Sea-Doo Spark Trixx – were due to be unveiled this year, but the highly-anticipated second-generation models have reportedly been delayed until at least 2024. ![]() ![]() ![]() That means that when you finally got back, maybe only a year would have passed for you, but a century could have gone by for your friends on Earth. ![]() To them, you’d be moving through time at a snail’s pace. Some ISPs enforce data caps and will charge extra fees or throttle internet speeds when you go over. Your bill may still go up at some point, which understandably happens, but it won't automatically go up by a preset amount after a specific time period. AT&T, Frontier, Verizon Fios and a handful of others, including EarthLink, don't do promotional or introductory pricing, so you won't have to worry about a guaranteed price increase. Not all providers have a planned price increase. Additionally, many providers don't require a contract, so if the price hike is too steep, you can cancel without penalty. The good news is that providers are fairly transparent about price increases as far as when you can expect them and how much they'll inflate your bill. Astound Broadband is perhaps the worst offender of all when it comes to price increases, and Viasat raises the price after just three months. Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox and others have competitive introductory pricing but a looming hike of $20, $30 or more after 12 months. Will it be the same a year down the road? Or is there a steep price increase waiting for you?Īgain, I know that low pricing can be tempting, but a cheap plan can lose its value entirely from one bill to the next when the price goes up by 50% or more. Once you've identified potential providers and plans, take a closer look at the monthly cost. Price increases are to be expected, but some may be designed to get you to switch to a faster, and eventually far more expensive, plan. So, even though Spectrum's plan is cheaper, Frontier is actually the better deal. However, Frontier Fiber's cheapest plan is $60 for speeds up to 500Mbps for a cost per Mbps of 12 cents. For example, Spectrum's cheapest plan is $50 for speeds up to 300Mbps - that's a cost of around 17 cents per Mbps. ![]() A low price is nice, but is it a good deal? To get an idea of a plan's value, consider the cost per Mbps by dividing the cost by the advertised speed. Find the one that best fits your speed demands and your budget. So look for plans with the speeds you want, or higher, then compare the prices. Opting for a cheaper plan that doesn't quite meet your household's speed demands, especially one that comes with a contract, may end up costing you more when you need to upgrade to a faster plan or provider. It's tempting to look at the price first and speed second, but I'd suggest focusing on speeds, then price. ![]() Here's where the bulk of your internet shopping takes place: comparing plans from each available provider. Look to our guide to internet connection types for more info on what separates each technology and how to determine which type an ISP uses. The new technology could also provide much-needed upgrades to broadband in rural areas where less speedy or reliable DSL, fixed wireless and satellite internet services are the only options. Meanwhile, 5G home internet is quickly proving to be a potential alternative to cable and even fiber connections in select areas. Cable internet is not far behind in terms of speed and value, and is often a good choice for cheap internet. Service also comes with the advantage of symmetrical or close upload speeds. Fiber-optic internet is the best bet for fast, consistent speeds, low latency and greatest overall value. ![]() ![]() ![]() Rem PDF Viewer / PDF xChange Editor 圆4 - rem Remote Support / TeamViewer - rem Startup Manager / Autoruns 圆4 - /en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx Rem Online Radio / RadioSure - rem Password Manager (Offline) / KeePass - /download.html Rem Disc to MKV / MakeMKV - rem Driver Updates / Driver Easy - rem Hardware Information / HWiNFO 圆4 - rem Image Viewer / XnView - rem Media Player / VLC 圆4 - rem Network Optimization / TCP Optimizer - / rem Network Settings / NetSetMan - rem Office Suite / WPS Office - wps.com/office-free Rem Computer Management / rem File Archiver / 7-zip 圆4 - rem Disc Space Manager / TreeSize Free - rem DNS Benchmark / Namebench - /archive/p/namebench/downloads Rem Avast Free Antivirus - rem Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition - rem Recommended free software replacement for Windows 10 apps Rem Help - rem Recommended free security software Rem Emsisoft Emergency Kit - rem Guide - /blogs/malware-removal-guide-for-windows Rem Dr.Web CureIt! - /download+cureit+free Rem CCleaner - rem Wise Care - rem Wise Program Uninstaller - rem Recommended free security cleanup software Rem Check for Browser Leaks- rem Check for Hacked Info - rem Windows 10 Forums - rem Windows 10 Support - /en-us/windows/support-windows-10.aspx Rem Turn Off Everything (Some updates keep enabling some settings, so you need to keep checking) Rem Delete all network protocols except IPv4 ![]() Rem rem Network Connection - all adapters Rem Link your Microsoft Account to Windows 10 Activation Digital License Rem Remove various folders, startup entries and policies Rem USE AT OWN RISK AS IS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND !!!!! ![]() ![]() Maybe it is the case of the people that are playing this music are doing precisely that-playing it and not worrying about writing it down. From the lack of response to this thread (other than yours, that I do appreciate-thank you) I am led to the conclusion that this is not a feature that is supported by Finale, and most likely will not be supported in the future. It does not seem to be either clean or efficient. My present solution of having two note expressions, one to drop the pitchbend a 1/4 tone and then one to return it to the correct pitch, I see as a work around. I would like it to play back correctly, and I would like to have it indicated in the score cleanly and efficiently. What do you mean by performance notes? What I would like to have happen is to have an F major scale with a half flat B flat. if you want it to be in the key signature, you'll need to indicate what notes in the performance notes. ![]() There is no such key signature with quarter sharps/flats. My solution (two note expressions, pitchbend and reset) does work, but it does seem a bit tedious. I know if I assigned a shape it could put it back with the one expression, but I have had numerous problems in the past with shapes that have to be re-programmed for various durations. I then had to create another expression that reset the pitchbend back to 0. I created a note expression with the flat symbol with a slash through it, and had playback set for pitchbend -2048, which does the trick. (Can you have a key signature with just B 1/4 flat?) I looked through all of the alternate key signature possibilities, but realized that they are not connected to playback. Originally he had a synth that he just programmed the scale into, but now he wants to playback from Finale's internal. Example: F major only with a half flat Bb. I know someone who wants to use quarter tone playback for an Arabic scale, which has a half sharp fourth scale degree. ![]() If you’ve given these free Mac audio plugins a try, leave a comment and share your thoughts on them.MakeMusic Forum > Public Forums > Finale - Macintosh - FORUM HAS MOVED! > Quarter tone pitch shift on single notes, NOT complete keyboard quarter tone setup
